Slaying dragons
The last week has been spent slaying dragons of the virtual kind. By this I mean I’ve been learning how to work a cPanel, how to change DNS servers, dabbled in CSS, made store headers, designed (sorta) a new blog, and I’m sure there’s more but my brain has turned to mush so i can’t recall what else. Today I finally caught up on my Blipfoto.com jounal. I’ve been takin daily pictures, but just haven’t had the time to upload them. Goddess knows I’ve been running, running, running, non-stop.
I’ve been talking and chewing Peoples ears off for information on how to get my WordPress blog going, how to get my web store running, tips and tricks to make the business do better, taking notes on web design and business start-up for women.
In short, I’ve been working my ass off, and all I’ve got to show for it is this now self-hosted blog and my new web store. That, my lovely readers, can be found at http://www.beyondthewillows.com . I’m seriously all typed out, yet here i sit, writing another blog update. I’m addicted, what can i say?
I fought the dragons and came out victorious! Especially with Mercury Retrograde looming ever closer! I’ve accepted the fact that I can’t afford to offer free shipping anymore when I’m paying for my own website. I need to cover costs. Packaging materials and postage aren’t cheap.
I’m happy though, the ground floor is built! Now, i just have to work hard to get customers coming back, and fleshing out the store to reflect what i want it to be, once i can achieve brick and mortar status. One step at a time. Rome wasn’t built-in a day.
I know so many cliché’s today.
OMG!! Someone just tried to buy something from the store.. stupid paypal module was STILL in test format *sigh* glad i was able to figure it out now..don’t want to lose more sales ![]()
Heading out now..
oops..
It’s way past time for a post. I was all geared up and ready to post I’m guessing near a month ago, but whatever had gotten me all fired up, i was able to let go, and has now been forgotten. Must have been side effects of mercury retrograde. C’est La vie! (hey 7th grade french comes in handy sometimes lol)
So, over the past month, there’s been one birthday, celebration of Yule & Christmas (mostly in memory of my grandma that passed 10 years ago) Christmas consisted of mini omelets and mimosa’s for breakfast, and snacking of deviled eggs, while dinner was ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a few other items. I’ll be the first to thank this wonderful town we moved to. If it weren’t for the generous caring people there wouldn’t have been anything to celebrate with. - no food, and definitely no gifts. Gifts are just a wonderful bonus, to me. I’ve also done my best to instill this into my kids as well. You don’t need presents for yule or christmas to be happy or to have a good time. it’s about family and sharing your time together. My BIGGEST gift i got? All FOUR yes, i’ve got 4 minions remember?, were home with me this year. over the last 7 years my girls were gone and spending the winter holiday with their fathers.
Anyway, things haven’t gotten any better for us financially. I always feel like one breath away from losing it all.. I’m trying really hard to just go day by day.. doing this now, has caused my eczema to start flaring up again – in really inconvenient places. again C’est La Vie
Ok, so what else has happened – hmmm.. my parents finally came up the weekend of new years, brought some gifts for the kids, and took us to dinner. The place we went too, OMG! i’ve GOT to go back and have dinner there again. The 66 Restaurant in Blue Hill is FANTASTIC! Then for NYE – we went out, a bit late for the “Last Night” festivities. there wasn’t much there, and because we went late, the younger ones were a bit crabby. They all managed to stay up at least until midnight, and we all toasted each other – kids had some sparkling cider, while the huz and i had some barefoot moscato ‘champagne’.
There has been a couple decent snow storms, got some great pics of the kids playing in the snow as well. We’re also in for some more snow starting tomorrow.
well since this has gotten quite long, i’ll save the witchy stuff for another post.
Ciao!
hello out there..
been busy the last several weeks. moving, unpacking, arranging the house. we got 10.5 inches of snow before thanksgiving..within a few days it was all melted away and it hasn’t been back since lol! have had a few soaks in the hot tub..they were awesome.
Getting the room downstairs all settled for art/design/office purposes.
Even got a spot for tarot readings
Still super accurate. I didn’t doubt it wouldn’t be though ![]()
Oh and HOORAY!!! Mercury is DIRECT again!!
happy day!
so, here are some pictures of the house, now that it’s settled in some..

Wednesday’s Wanderings..
It’s a wonderful late summer sunny day here in NH. Feels a bit like fall, in that you can feel the crispness to the wind when it blows, but it’s still got that summer warmth ..perfect! ^_^
I’m floundering as of late.. mercury really has me all over the place. I’ve signed up once again for the Next Designer contest at the Digital Scrapbooking Studio. It’ll be my 3rd year entering. I think it’s the first time the contest hasn’t been held in a Mercury Retrograde period since I’ve been in it. I’ve learned so much over the past 3 years of contests. I’m still working out my ‘style’ of design, but kit creation is coming a lot easier to me now that I’ve been consistently doing it for almost a year. ^_^ practice y’all, that’s what it comes down too.
In other news, of the 3 ..yes 3 gardens we planted earlier this year, only 1 made it. the front container garden. A mixture of flowers, and a cactus (hens & chicks) it’s huge! all the flowers have taken quit well. The only ones that have not bloomed are the Morning Glories. So sad. I’d hoped they’d of bloomed by now. Maybe they’re a fall blooming flower?
Well i need to get to packaging my kit that i finished last night. have a great Wednesday!
